Child Tax Credit Helpline Number

The Child Tax Credit has recently been replaced by Universal Credit for a majority of the population. Residents and citizens are only able to make a claim for the Child Tax Credit if they get the severe disability premium and have received it during the previous month and are eligible to receive it.

Anyone who has a child that is at least 16 years of age will be able to claim the tax credit up until August 31 of the child’s 16th birthday. If one cannot make the claim for the Child Tax Credit, then you are eligible to apply for either the Universal Credit or the Pension Credit. The Universal Credit is available for those of working age and the Pension Credit is available for anyone who is of Pension Credit qualifying age.

When claiming the Child Tax Credit, the amount you get will depend on the number of children one has and whether you are making a new claim for the tax credit or are already claiming the tax credit. The Child Tax Credit will not affect the Child Benefit and can only be claimed for any child that you are responsible for.

Anyone who is making a claim for the Child Tax Credit will get an amount that is dependent on when their children were born. They will need to contact the Child Tax Credit telephone number in order to make a claim. Any child born before April 6th of 2017 can get the child element of the Child Tax Credit for all children or the basic amount known as the family element. Children born on or after April 6 of 2017 can get the child element for up to 2 children and the family element if a least one child was born before the date of April 6, 2017.

During the upcoming 2019 to 2020 tax year, individuals will be able to get the basic amount of 545 pounds for one year. The child element will be given at an amount of 2,780 pounds for each child during the upcoming tax year. For each disabled child, one can receive up to 3,355 pounds along with the child element. Those with a severely disabled child will be able to receive an amount of 1,360 pounds on top of both the child element and the disabled child element.

Individuals and families receive the Child Tax Credit payments from their bank account. The individual who is responsible for the child gets the funds deposited into their account. Those who receive the benefit either get it every week or once every four weeks. Each payment will be made from the date of the claim up to the end of the tax year which is April 5th.
